I sent a request to BMW NA when I first got my car, to find out exactly what was covered by the extended 100K warranty. Here's the document they sent to me, verbatim. It's a half page semi-glossy sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 paper w/four short paragraphs on the upper left side.

BMW of North America, Inc. warrants all internal mechanical engine components lubricated by engine oil against defects in material or workmanship for a period of 6 years or 100,000 miles, whichever occurs first.
The New Vehicle Limited Warranty is described in your Service Warranty Information booklet supplied with your new BMW.
The warranty begins on the date of first retail sale or the date the vehicle is first placed in service as a demonstrator or company vehicle, whichever is earlier.
